Builders Back: Building a Strong and Healthy Back for Life
Lower back pain affects people of all ages all over the world from minor aches and pains to debilitating chronic conditions. Lower back pain is also one of the leading causes of activity limitation and absence from work. This carries a high economic burden not only on the individual but on the families,
communities, industries, and governments.

Adam K Hansen has combined his personal experience of lower back issues with over 30 years training and practising Chinese Martial Arts and developed a low-impact daily stretching routine that will allow you to build a strong and healthy back for life and reduce the intake of pain killers and anti-inflammatory medications.

This book allows you to take your life back and covers the combination of breath flow and applied mental intention to each stretch, so you can release deep-seated issues that ignited the condition in the first place.
Each move is carefully explained and takes you on a journey of self-discovery making you consciously aware of your body and how you are the captain of your own vessel.
Testimonial
I came to see Adam in my early 50's with chronic back pain and thought my surfing and working days were all but over. Adam gave me a shiatsu massage which relieved the pain, then expressed that if you don’t want regular massage here is a morning stretching routine that will change your life and save your hip pocket. I have now practised this routine every day for 10 years, and I am surfing and working pain-free I cannot express enough how much this information has changed my life.

Why should we deep breathe?
Breathing is one of the most natural things we do and above all take for granted. Believing that because it is an automatic body function that we are doing it correctly, well this is definitely a far cry from the truth.
The automatic breath function is there to keep us alive; this function is not designed to make us thrive and function at optimal levels.
To function at an optimal level, you need to understand the dynamics behind the breath we take and the function of the vascular respiratory systems.

The vascular system, made up of vessels that carry blood and lymph through the body. Arteries and veins are responsible for carrying blood around the body and delivering oxygen and nutrients to the body tissues, and exchange takes place here and any tissue waste matter is taken away.

Blood moves through the system because of the heart being a pump. Blood leaving the heart through arteries is generally oxygen rich. The arteries continue to break down into smaller capillaries and is delivered to the cells. The toxins and waste matter move from the cells into the capillaries and are then transported through the veins and back to the heart.

The respiratory system; As blood flows into the lungs through capillaries carbon dioxide is released and oxygen is taken in. The carbon dioxide is expelled from the body through the lungs and the oxygen is delivered to the body tissues by the blood.
In normal breathing we are not using the full capacity of the lungs and therefore the blood is not as saturated with oxygen as it could be. From this we see the aging process quicken as the blood delivered to the outer tissue regions has less oxygen and is therefore less proficient to heal and nurture these areas, hence we have poor circulation.

As we learn how to deep diaphragmatic breathe we start to use the full capacity of our lungs which allows for a better exchange of gases in our system and now the heart can fully saturate the blood with more oxygen, delivering oxygen rich blood to every cell of our being.
When this breathing becomes natural then you are creating longevity in your life and slowing the aging process down.

You see science has proven that disease cannot exist in an oxygen rich environment. And you can increase the amount of oxygen that circulates throughout your system.

If this resonates with you and you want to increase your quality of life and longevity, then jump onboard and take one of our breath-work and/or breath flow classes.

Structural Alignment
As we age it is very important that we know and understand what structural alignment is and how it relates to your life. To retain good balance mobility and flexibility you need to start observing your own body, how it functions and how everything is aligned from your head to your toes. One of the best ways I do this is generally after a shower I will stand in front of the mirror with feet shoulder width apart and look at the position of my hanging arms, the level of my shoulders, is one higher than the other. Is my naval pubic area and nose lined up, one central line running through the body showing my posture is straight. I observe my hips and notice if one is either higher or forward of the other this shows me if there is any pelvic tilt in my structural alignment. Once I am familiar with my structure, I can start to work on bringing it back to its natural posture. As you start to move your body into the correct alignment you will notice areas that may have resistance and feel uncomfortable. These little triggers are the areas that need to be focused on to allow future freedom of movement. In my book “Builders Back Building a Strong & Healthy Back for Life” I go into detail and show you how to stretch and create a daily maintenance routine that starts a daily reset activation, allowing your body to start the day in its best structured alignment.
